Is this why? Would a GeForce 5200 be any better?

Although your card is on the low end of the spectrum you should see pretty respectable frame rates in the range of 20-30 if your settings are turned down. I get 45+ FPS on my laptop and it has an ATI Radeon Express 200M onboard for comparison. Thast is with the settings at their lowest though. If I try to crank them up my frame rates bottom out. Just turn down the graphics settings and you will be fine.

Can I ask how good a Ge force FX 5700 is ? I'm curious becuase is it really good or really crap or in the middle. Honestly I'm upgrading becuase my card had to be removed becuase it shorted. Or I might just buy another I don't know.

The Geforce FX series is a couple years old now. Depending upon yoru budget and what your machine can handle, you're going to be better off w/ a Geforce 7000 or 8000 series. Also, generally speaking, you are better off getting a higher-end model of a lower series; a 7900 is much better than an 8400, for instance. PCI Express is also going to be faster than AGP.
Still, remember that GW is basically from 2005, and even w/ the updates since then, the card the OP mentioned should run the game decently. My laptop, which has a crummy shared-memory video accelerator can run it at 30FPS on the lowest settings...

I've got a laptop with that card, and it's very hard pressed to play the game at all. It worked poorly but passably for Prophecies, but it just can't keep up with Nightfall.

You actually might be better off. The MX440 was the very bottom-end version of the Geforce 4 series--it offered performance only a little better than the Geforce 2. Even 6 years ago when it was released, it struggled in games. Even today many modern games list the Geforce 4 series as supported, followed immediately by (Except MX440.)
